UD College of Arts & Sciences

Write news articles, student and faculty profiles, features and briefs for University of Delaware’s College of Arts & Sciences. Topics have included English Language Institute students who volunteered in Puerto Rico, a photo conservation project and an art program dedicated to protecting tree canopies. Also cover events, such as an international festival, a performance of “Suite Blackness,” and appearances by journalists Linda Greenhouse and Maggie Haberman.

Also write numerous personality profiles, including one on the university’s oldest graduate in 2022, an alumnus who is a U.S. ambassador, and a professor who was cited in a White House economic report.

University President’s Blog

To drive employee engagement and celebrate employee achievements, I developed a presidential blog focusing on job shadows.  I arranged for the president to shadow employees  and I ghostwrote his blog posts. He worked side by side with a custodian, the softball coach, a carpenter, theater professor, help desk technician and the director of the marching band.

The social media and web analytics were excellent for this blog, and there was strong engagement from students, WCU families, prospective students and their families, as well as our primary audience of employees.

Video Content

Conceptualized, wrote, and produced videos on timely issues such as Covid-19 vaccination. Pre-pandemic, I produced monthly First Friday Videos for West Chester University’s president. Videos were widely viewed by internal and external stakeholders, with upwards of 10,000 views per week via social media and the university’s website.

University President Chris Fiorentino, Dr. Sue Fiorentino and Ms. Diana Fiorentino filmed a COVID-19 video on May 6, 2021 to encourage WCU students to learn more about the vaccine and to get vaccinated.

News-Journal “Native Delaware”

brucktallamy

For eight years, while supporting UD’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, I wrote a weekly column about research happening in this college as well as nature and conservation news from UD Cooperative Extension specialists and others. These articles were published in the Wilmington  (Del.) News-Journal, as well as on the university’s website. The columns served as an effective platform for sharing UD’s commitment to education, research and service to the community.

This column spotlights a research project looking at sustainable landscaping and involved both student interns and high-profile UD researchers.
